Buckle Up: Embrace the Journey of Life and Writing

Chapter 1: The Road Ahead
It’s time to gear up for an exhilarating and tumultuous adventure.
“YOUR ROLE IN LIFE IS TO TAKE CONTROL — GET READY FOR THE RIDE.” — PANDA EXPRESS
Just moments ago, I made a firm decision to wholeheartedly commit to freelance writing. I am ready to immerse myself in the world of writing, publishing, and establishing my identity like never before. Interestingly enough, this revelation came after a visit to Panda Express with my children following our back-to-school shopping spree.
I believed I had mapped out my life perfectly: I met my soulmate at eighteen, tied the knot at twenty-two, welcomed my first son at twenty-seven, and my daughter followed at thirty — it seemed like a fairytale ending.
Yet, here I am — thirteen years later, capturing a moment on my commute to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant, struggling to make ends meet while living with my parents after my divorce.
There must be more to life than this — there simply must be.
“I understand you’re exhausted. I recognize the toll it takes, both physically and emotionally. You’ve been searching for healing while the world seems to fall apart around you. Don’t lose faith. Countless beautiful experiences await you on the other side of this struggle. Sunshine eventually graces everyone who endures the rain. Hold tight; you’re nearly there.” — Gratitude Guru
I don’t seek pity; instead, I wish to convey my profound gratitude. I am thankful for the beautifully chaotic and painful moments in my life that have allowed me to devote more time and energy to my passion. Writing brings me more joy than I ever imagined possible during these challenging times.
On February 26, 2018, my payout from the Medium Partnership Program amounted to just $1.47. After nearly a decade of feeling inadequate (and believing I contributed nothing to my family because I wasn’t earning a salary), that small sum represented a glimmer of hope and recognition deposited into my joint account with my ex-spouse.
I felt seen. I felt heard. People were engaging with my words, empathizing with my journey and the values I hold dear. I will always remember the warmth of support from strangers, all while being compensated for something I adore. That feeling has stayed with me for four years, and I intend to cherish it for much longer.
Thank you all. I hold deep affection for each of you. ❤️
