Chapter 1: A Brief Respite from Medium

Writing is a passion that I hold dear, and my journey on Medium has been incredibly fulfilling. Since I embarked on this path in 2019, I've crafted more than a thousand articles and amassed over a million words for my dedicated readers on this platform. Along the way, I’ve gained over 5,000 followers and generated a five-figure income, all while managing the responsibilities of a full-time job and being a devoted husband and father.

Even with these demands, I never contemplated stepping away from Medium, as the platform and its readers mean so much to me. However, there are moments when it's necessary to pause and evaluate one's circumstances, which is precisely why I recently took a week off from writing on Medium. My last publication before this break was on April 13, making it over ten days since my last post.

Despite my absence from publishing, I maintained my writing routine, averaging over a thousand words daily. I continued to work on my drafts and kept a journal, writing both in the morning and before bedtime. Habits are indeed hard to shake off.

During this time, I also traveled for work, providing an ideal opportunity for reflection. Writing on Medium has been an extraordinary journey, and I genuinely hope to continue this path for many years to come.

As I reassess my goals, I’ve realized it’s time to finally start my own newsletter, a venture I’ve postponed due to concerns about maintaining consistency. However, if I can write over a thousand words a day, I should certainly be able to manage a newsletter. This new project will be something I explore throughout the remainder of the year.

A fresh start with my new job has helped me recognize the importance of not overthinking or worrying excessively about the future. Instead, I plan to embrace this opportunity and see where it leads me. Stay tuned as I map out the next steps in my writing journey. I want my newsletter to be beneficial for my readers and an enjoyable endeavor for myself.

I owe a lot to that week-long break, as it reminded me that writing extends beyond just Medium. Earning a living from my writing involves exploring various avenues, and I shouldn't fear trying something new—even if it doesn’t succeed. After all, setbacks are often stepping stones to success.

I anticipate launching my newsletter next month, all while continuing to publish regularly on Medium. I can’t envision abandoning this incredible platform, and now that my break is over, I’m excited to resume my consistent publishing schedule of at least three to four articles each week. It feels great to be back!
