Transforming Dreams into Reality: A Journey to Success

Written on

Chapter 1: The Spark of an Idea

When my first child was young, a friend suggested we join developmental classes. It was held in a rented space at a college, known as the “Development Center.” At that moment, I was hit with a thought: can young children truly develop? This concept was so fascinating and exciting to me! It was a wonderful environment for mothers, children, and educators to express their creativity. I yearned to create a place like that for myself, and thus the idea of starting a children’s center was born. Despite the warmth this dream brought me, the lack of financial resources made me dismiss it before even exploring it further.

I attempted to fulfill this longing by working at a kindergarten as a methodologist, believing I could promote early development ideas. Unfortunately, I soon realized that spreading joy within such a rigid system was nearly impossible. I found myself questioning why the essence of happiness could not permeate the kindergarten environment. Why couldn’t we transform it into a resource for development, fostering both children's growth and teachers' creative potential? The reality was that kindergartens had become mere holding spaces, overwhelming for both the children and educators, who often felt drained and unable to share their energy.

Later, I took on a managerial role at a private center, hoping to observe the process from a different perspective. However, I was puzzled by the owners’ view of the children’s center as purely a business venture, devoid of a guiding mission or purpose. It left me wondering how they could not find joy in such an important endeavor.

Then one day, I realized I had to take the plunge and create the center I envisioned. I wanted to be proud and share my happiness about it with others.

I began searching for ways to open the center, even though I had no financial backing. Through a technique I later learned was part of the “Socratic dialogue,” I explored numerous options that ultimately helped my dream materialize. We often place limits on ourselves, closing off pathways that could lead to new opportunities — as if we were locking doors that might not even exist. By considering alternatives without constraints, I discovered ways to establish a children’s center without significant funds, and I started moving forward.

As I sought assistance, I applied for government support, not expecting to receive a grant outright. I networked with various politicians and entrepreneurs, even meeting influential individuals. While many were skeptical, a few were receptive, including the director of a major local oil enterprise. His secretary was taken aback by my determination and arranged a meeting where he welcomed me warmly, listened to my ideas, and eventually provided support for advertising and organization.

Additionally, a local entrepreneur offered me free space for the center. Gradually, I was making progress toward my dream, and when I secured a government grant, it became a piece of the larger puzzle rather than a question of whether my center would exist.

Today, I visited the center and felt overwhelmed with emotion. Our mission goes beyond making children happy; it also focuses on fostering joy among our employees and allowing them to express their creativity. I even have a hiring principle: I want my staff to come to work happy and leave even happier! This philosophy shapes the spaces I create, and I take pride in my achievements. I have expanded this vision to six centers under my organization, providing me with invaluable experience in realizing my dreams.

I want to emphasize that pursuing your dreams is exhilarating! Take the time to reflect on your aspirations and assess your capabilities. Often, we are the ones who hold ourselves back, postponing our dreams for when we have more resources or when circumstances are more favorable. We create barriers that hinder our progress, convincing ourselves that we will never have the money, time, or permission to pursue our dreams. Don't wait! Start taking small steps and seek out available opportunities—there are countless doors waiting to be opened. Instead of trying to unlock the doors that don’t lead anywhere, simply find a way around them.
