In a surprising development, Scott L. Steward, a key figure in the community and the founder of Genius Lab, Inc., has announced his resignation from his role as the leader of the Youth Expressing Christ (YEC) group at Christ Universal Temple.

This announcement was conveyed in a formal email directed to Reverend Gaylon McDowell. Steward has been instrumental in leading the youth group, which caters to students in grades 6 to 12. Notably, he himself was once a member of this group and had previously held the position of president.

Following the challenges posed by the pandemic and the unexpected passing of the previous male leader, Mr. Floyd McGee, the YEC faced a significant leadership void. Steward was regarded as the ideal candidate to step in and continue the legacy left by McGee.

I recognize that I currently lack the necessary understanding of UFBL theology to fulfill this role effectively."

Steward’s final day in the leadership position will be Sunday, October 29, 2023. His decision has evoked feelings of surprise and respect within the community. A long-time member of Christ Universal Temple remarked, "While we are saddened to see Scott leave, we appreciate his honesty and dedication to integrity."

As of now, it remains uncertain whether a successor will be sought to replace Steward. However, Christ Universal Temple remains optimistic that the youth ministry will "continue to thrive in a way that honors God," as Steward articulated in his resignation message.
