Chapter 1: A Lesson in Co-Parenting Through Music
As a parent, what aspects do you take pride in?

I often keep my thoughts to myself, but there are moments when I feel like I excel at being a parent. While I won't delve into the specifics of why I feel this way, I strive to align my actions with the values I hold dear.
Whenever I request additional time with my children from my ex-husband, I typically face rejection and criticism—unless, of course, they are unwell.
However, let's focus on the current situation. Today, my ex-husband expressed a desire to take our son to a concert this weekend—my weekend with him. I had every reason to react negatively and influence my son against attending.
Instead, here’s why I remained silent about the concert during our drive home from school, opting for empathy and humility:
- My son's relationship with his father is beyond my control and not my responsibility.
- I refuse to hinder their bond.
- We are all navigating the challenges of this divorce to the best of our abilities.
- I genuinely want them to foster a positive relationship; anything less would be both selfish and unkind.
- Music has a way of mending emotional wounds in my life, and I hope it brings the same solace to my son and his dad.
I owe a debt of gratitude to Lucy Dan for her wonderful prompts that inspire reflection.
Chapter 2: The Power of Music in Healing
In this enlightening podcast episode titled "Bands should cater concerts for Parents! | Don't Make Me Come Back There #podcast #parenting," the discussion centers on the importance of creating concert experiences that resonate with parents and their children. It highlights how music can bridge gaps, foster connections, and provide healing, echoing the very sentiments I hold about the relationship between my son and his father.
