Chapter 1: Reflecting on My Writing Journey

Over the past 79 days, I've dedicated myself to writing daily, sometimes even multiple times a day. This month, I'd like to share some straightforward yet enlightening lessons I've discovered.

Section 1.1: The Timelessness of Articles

One of the simplest yet profound realizations I've had is that articles can gain attention at any moment. Just because an article doesn’t become popular immediately doesn't mean it won't resonate later. For instance, I published an article titled "5 Quick & Easy Tips to Lose Love Handles" on April 13. While it initially performed well, interest waned towards the end of the month. Surprisingly, in May, it experienced a resurgence, surpassing its previous performance.

Section 1.2: The Variability of Earnings

Earnings can fluctuate significantly, a fact that became apparent during discussions with a friend who creates YouTube content. We compared various metrics, such as read ratios, claps, comments, and saves. It became evident that earnings from YouTube tend to be more stable compared to those from Medium, which can be quite erratic. Following a successful month where I earned $200 in April, I naively expected my income to continue on an upward trajectory. However, I soon learned that previous performance does not guarantee future success. Producing high-quality content and engaging with the audience can enhance viewership, but consistency is key.

Section 1.3: The Challenge of Daily Writing

As someone passionate about writing, I sometimes find it challenging to maintain a daily writing routine. Even when I have a topic in mind or a few bullet points drafted, there are days when motivation wanes. Nonetheless, my love for this hobby keeps me posting regularly. I've discovered that setting a specific upload time allows me to keep things fluid, ensuring that writing on Medium remains enjoyable rather than feeling like a chore.

This month, I also learned about the potential risks of having an account suspended on Medium. It’s quite common for users to wake up one day unable to access their accounts, often without warning or explanation. From my readings, it appears that many experience sudden bans with little clarity on the reasons behind them.
