Chapter 1: Medium's Newest Update

Recently, I received a notification regarding an update for the applications installed on my iPhone. Among these updates, the Medium app was notably enhanced in the App Store.

Medium has been a platform I’ve long relied on to share my stories, experiences, and social viewpoints, despite my lack of expertise in storytelling.

Previously, the developers of this app indicated that in the latest version, writers would no longer find the option to create new articles or stories. Personally, I often write on Medium using my iPhone, so this update significantly impacted my writing frequency on the platform.

It seems the iOS version of Medium is primarily designed to enhance the reading experience for articles shared by writers. However, for those comfortable crafting articles on their iPhones, this change was quite disappointing.

It turns out that iOS users are not alone in wishing for the ability to write, edit, and share their work on the Medium mobile platform. Android users have expressed similar desires for the return of the editing button in the Medium app.

Today, Medium has rolled out an update for both iOS (and possibly Android), restoring the editing feature along with several app enhancements. The new version 4.97 includes buttons for creating stories, editing, and accessing drafts, plus a new member icon in the navigation menu. This update can be seen as Medium's response to the feedback from users accustomed to mobile editing functions.
