How to Improve Your Writing Skills and Gain Followers
Written on
Chapter 1: The Reality of Writing
Let’s be honest: many aspiring writers are not living up to their potential. It's disheartening to see numerous individuals attempting to build their follower base by publishing articles that merely ask for attention. The common approach of promising to follow back those who follow them is not a strategy that fosters genuine engagement or meaningful content.
As a result, the quality of writing suffers, and the overall value added to platforms like Medium is minimal.
Section 1.1: The Call-Out
It's time to name names and encourage improvement among those who need it. For instance, let’s look at a few individuals who exemplify this trend:
- Omar Hedeya
- Oguz Kul
- Oscar L Titcombe
- Deep Space
- Sissi MM999
- Gwyn Everett
- Marco Pinto
- Heather Hunt Nagy, MS, RDN, LDN, CDCES
- Imam Mashari
These individuals, and many like them, are missing the mark.
To genuinely achieve your writing goals, the key is consistent practice. Write, rewrite, and continue the cycle until you reach at least a moderate level of proficiency. Additionally, immerse yourself in quality content to learn and enhance your skills.
Subsection 1.1.1: Influential Writers to Follow
Here are some writers whose work is worth your time and attention:
- Sean Fennessey
- Bill Simmons
- Shea Serrano
- Bryan Curtis
- Danny Chau
- Micah Peters
- Juliet Litman
- Gary Vaynerchuk
- Tim O'Reilly
- Benjamin Hardy, PhD
- Larry Kim
- Darius Foroux
- Bernie Sanders
- Ev Williams
- Julie Zhuo
- Jason Fried
- Marc Anderson
- James Burns (a writer from SUPERJUMP)
Raising the bar for writers on Medium is essential, and this challenge extends even to the Medium Staff.
Chapter 2: The Importance of Collaboration
In the spirit of transparency, I admit that I, too, struggle with my writing. I’m currently on a quest to improve and, yes, I need your help—specifically, I’m hoping to gain 100 followers. The truth is, I recognize my own shortcomings and am eager to improve.

Don’t you just appreciate a little sarcasm?
In closing, whether you choose to follow, applaud, or share your own work is entirely up to you. But remember, keep writing!
